I can 
When you are edititng your own gallery, you can place your photo's in folders but you can also remove the photo from your gallery.
So, go to the edit page of your gallery. Then click on the arrow below the photo you want to remove. And choose for "remove from featured".
You won't delete the photo, you only make it disapear from your gallery
